Announcement of Study Tour

Are you interested in community based health NGO work?

HEALTH and SHARE Foundation (HSF) currently has been working on HIV/AIDS care and a prevention project at Thai-Lao border area in Ubon Ratchathani province, Thailand.

There have been about 500,000 HIV positive people existing in Thailand nowadays. After Thai government provides free Antiretroviral (ARV) drugs, new cases of HIV positive have been decreased in total. However, there have been still issues left to be overcome since some HIV positive cases taking ARV stop drugs by themselves after they realize that they become healthier.

Then, they become drug resistance easily. Also, there are some issues of discrimination in the community. Therefore, HSF works for a HIV self –reliance group in the district hospital to support to provide care knowledge and (human/patient) right information. In addition, HSF works for a kid group affected by HIV/AIDS. In terms of prevention, HSF works for Lao immigrant sex workers at Karaoke bars, Men who have Sex with Men (MSM), Youth, Kids who have got disadvantages in communities such as HIV positive, handicapped to collaborate with community hospitals, public health offices, and other community stakeholders.

In study tour, participants can visit and join HSF activities. Are you interested in health work? NGO work? community development activities? Or northeastern of Thailand (Esan) culture?
